Is oatmeal good for my skin?

Oatmeal acts as a natural cleanser and exfoliator by removing dead skin cells to leave your skin smoother and brighter.

Colloidal oatmeal contains several components that are beneficial for the skin. These include:

  • Oils,
  • Saponins, a natural group of carbohydrates found in plants that have soap-like properties and act as a cleanser,
  • Beta glucan, a humectant moisturiser that attracts water to the top layers of the skin,
  • Plant based phenols, are rich in antioxidants.

Oatmeal delivers minerals, vitamins and antioxidants to your skin when used as an
oatmeal scrub. You can enjoy a gentle wash leaving your skin feeling healthy and moisturized.

When do I use an exfoliant?

I like to use my exfoliant twice a week. Cleanse thoroughly with Alexandra Johns Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser. Remove all excess cleanser with warm water and apply your exfoliant.

Finish with your favourite mask and take some me time. Then finally apply your day serum or night oil.

How do I use my exfoliant?

Use a small amount of our exfoliant, mix with a little water as you apply and support you skin with 2 fingers from your other hand. Use only your finger-tips for gentle, small, circular movement on your face, neck and décolletage.

Why is oatmeal a good exfoliator?

Because of its texture, an oatmeal face scrub is the perfect ingredient as an exfoliant for a youthful skin. Oatmeal cleanses away dead skin cells to leave your skin smoother and glowing. Oatmeal has the additional benefit that it delivers antioxidants and minerals to dull & lifeless skin or sun damaged skin. As a natural product, it does not dry like harsh chemical peels. If your skin needs a refresh, but you don’t want to over dry it, try our Exfoliant.
